Body found on Tyrone road was that of SF man

Stevie Conlan’s body was found on the Mountjoy Road at Killeen village, to the east oc Coalisland in Co Tyrone, at about 4am of Saturday morning.

A 35-year-old man arrested by police on Saturday in connection with the death of Mr Conlan has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The cause of his death has not yet been established.

Sinn Fein councillor Joe O’Neill believes Mr Conlan had left a friend’s house to walk across the Mountjoy Road to his home shortly before his body was discovered.

He said: “I just feel devastated for the whole family. Stevie was a lovely lad.

“He was a great supporter of our party and a member of Sinn Fein.”

It is thought he was known personally by Sinn Fein agriculture minister Michelle O’Neill.

He added that he has been inundated with calls this morning about Mr Conlan’s death.
