Charges considered against Bloody Sunday soldiers
Various charges including murder and attempted murder are being considered by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) against 18 soldiers over their involvement in Bloody Sunday.
The BBC says it has obtained ‘official correspondence’, namely a letter from a senior public prosecutor, which details the criminal charges being considered.
Thirteen people died when members of the Parachute Regiment opened fire on Civil Rights demonstrators in Londonderry in 1972.
A fourteenth person died later.
John Kelly’s brother Michael was among those killed and he met prosecutors recently.
He said: “The Public Prosecution Service is investigating 18 soldiers.”
