Child, 7, who died after being hit by a car is named

Police have named the seven-year-old who died after being knocked down by a car in west Belfast yesterday evening as Kaitlin McCoubrey-Fullerton.

She died at the scene after the collision on Springhill Avenue.

Superintendent Gillian Kearney said: “Shortly after 6.10pm, Kaitlin was struck by a car, tragically, she passed away at the scene.

“One person has been arrested and is assisting police with their enquiries. Specially trained officers are continuing to provide support to those impacted during this difficult time.

“The Springhill Avenue has reopened following the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing and officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage or any other information to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1644 03/04/21.”
