Co Antrim car crash victims named as father speaks of devastation

The father of a man who died following a car crash in Co Antrim yesterday has said his family is “devastated”.

Andrew Burke, who was in his 20s, died following a two-vehicle collision on the Duneany Road in Glarryford on Wednesday afternoon.

He had been a passenger in a yellow Citroen when it collided with a white Honda.

The driver of the car he was in, a woman in her 20s, was also confirmed to have died on Wednesday.

She has been named as Naomi Lynn.

The female driver of the Honda was rushed to hospital.

Mr Burke’s father, John Burke, said in a social media post: “As you can imagine our family has been devastated by the news of yesterday’s tragic events that cost the lives of my son and his friend.”

He continued: “I am also painfully aware that we were not the only family to receive such terrible news.

“My thoughts are with them at this sad time.”

Naomi Lynn is described in a death notice as the “much loved daughter of Bryan and Barbara and beloved sister of Jenna.”

Her funeral will take place in First Portglenone Presbyterian Church on Sunday, February 23 at 2.30pm, followed by interment at Cullybackey new cemetery.

The death notice adds: “Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her mum, dad, sister, grandparents and family circle.”

Andrew James (Andy) Burke is described in a death notice as the “dearly beloved son of John and Elaine, loving brother of Christopher and wife Jenna and Jack and grandson of Betty.

A service of thanksgiving for his life will be held in Bairds Funeral Home on Monday, February 24 at 11am and afterwards to Belmont Cemetery.

The notice adds: “Lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his father, mother, brothers and entire family circle.”
