Carjacker throws woman from her own vehicle - female driver left with cuts and bruises

A woman has been lifted with cuts and bruises as she was thrown from her own car by a carjacker in Northern Ireland on Thursday.

The incident occurred as the woman parked her car outside a fast-food takeaway outlet on Ormeau Road shortly before midnight.

Detective Sergeant Rachel Miskelly urged anyone with information to contact the PSNI immediately.

“Shortly before midnight on Thursday July 9, a woman parked her car, a white Fiat 500, outside a fast food takeaway establishment near the junction with Fitzroy Avenue.

"As she was exiting the vehicle a man approached and threw her to the ground before getting into the car and driving off city-wards at speed.

"Following a number of enquiries the car was recovered shortly before 3am parked in the street at Fairhill Park in north Belfast and has been taken for examination.

"The woman sustained cuts and bruising as a result of the incident," DS Miskelly.
