Dissident republican suspect arrested by PSNI

Detectives investigating violent dissident republican activity have arrested a man in Newry.

The suspect was detained during a police operation in the Derrybeg area of the city on Monday.

The PSNI said that detectives from Ardmore CID, supported by the Newry Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) conducted a search of a property and arrested a 45-year-old male.

He was taken to Musgrave serious crime suite for questioning.

Inspector Adam Corner of Newry NPT said: “Police are committed to tackling all forms of criminality and issues of serious crime in our community.
