DUP leader accuses man of murdering terminally-ill Glenn Quinn in Carrickfergus during debate in House of Commons

The leader of the DUP has named a man whom he says murdered Glenn Quinn.

Gavin Robinson was speaking during a debate on the government’s new Troubles Bill in the House of Commons.

Mr Quinn was beaten to death in his home in Ashleigh Park in Carrickfergus by what police believe was a group of men in January 2020, and died from his injuries.

He was terminally ill at the time with a blood condition

He was aged 47, and had no paramilitary connections.

Mr Robinson told the Commons on Monday night: “When we talk of amnesty, I think of Martin Quinn, the brother of Glenn Quinn, and of Mrs Quinn, his mother – an 82-year-old woman who lost her son in January 2020.

"He was beaten to death by a loyalist paramilitary; he was terminally ill, and he was killed in his own home.

"An 82-year-old mother is sitting at home today with death threats from loyalists because of Colin Simms and the murder he committed in Carrickfergus.

"He does not have the support of his community or his comrades.

"If the Secretary of State can achieve anything tonight, it should be to inform Mrs Quinn that neither Colin Simms nor anyone like him will receive any sort of immunity or early release, for the sake of justice that is yet to be delivered.”
