Funeral to be held for wife of NI ex-pat killed in South Africa

Susan Howarth, 64, and her husband Robert Lynn, 66, were shot at and tied up after they were woken by masked raiders on their farm in Dullstroom.

Ms Howarth, from Southsea, Hampshire, died of her injuries on February 21, two days after the attack, after the gang had dumped the couple by the side of a road.

Mr Lynn - understood to be a former electrical engineer from Belfast - who survived the attack, said he was burned with a blowtorch and slashed with a knife by assailants demanding money.

Three suspects have been arrested and are being held without bail.

Eileen du Preez, a friend of Ms Howarth, said mourners will bring 64 roses to her funeral in Dullstroom - one for each year of the victim's life.
