Man on run from PSNI for more than two years discovered hiding in attic

A man who evaded the PSNI for more than two years was found hiding in an attic in Northern Ireland on Friday morning.

The South Belfast Neighbourhood Policing team was carrying out a proactive search of a dwelling in the Donegall Road area of Belfast when they discovered man.

A man separate to the one found hiding in the attic was arrested for possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply.

“A check of the roof space turned up something interesting also,” wrote the PSNI on social media.

“A male who had been wanted by police for over two years was located hiding up above.

“He was also arrested for possession of a class B controlled drug with intent to supply along with two bench warrants, meaning he had failed to appear in court when he was supposed to.”

The PSNI used the incident to warn others that anyone in Northern Ireland wanted by the police over outstanding warrants can expect their photographs to start appearing on social media very soon.

“If you are reading this and you have an outstanding warrant please make arrangements to have this dealt with, your solicitor can assist.

“Police will soon be posting new images of people on their Facebook pages in relation to wanted persons - come to us before we come looking you and before your face and name goes up on the big screen.

“Local Neighbourhood officers continue to act on information provided to us by members of the public in relation to illegal activities in their communities.
