Man suspected of erratically driving stolen disability scooter while drunk/high

Police in north Belfast have arrested a 47-year-old man following the theft of a mobility scooter in a burglary.

Officers received a report that, at around 1.30am on Thursday, a man had entered someone’s home in the Shore Crescent area – a tight-knit neighbourhood off the Shore Road near Whitewell.

The occupant was described by police as “vulnerable”.

A number of items were taken, including the electric mobility scooter.

The PSNI said: ““A response crew was sent to the area immediately and located a male driving a scooter erratically along the Shore Road.

“Officers stopped with the man and arrested him on suspicion of a number of offences, including burglary with intent to steal and driving when unfit through drink or drugs.”

The items stolen from the house were recovered.

Police have asked anyone with information or dash-cam footage of the burglary to call them on 101 quoting reference number 91 29/07/21.
