Man sustains serious injuries to face and legs after being beaten with iron bar in gang attack - police appeal for information

Detectives are appealing for information following the report of an assault on a man in playing fields off Parkgate Gardens in east Belfast in the early hours of July 13.

Police received a report about the attack just after 3am on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Moore said: “Officers attended, along with colleagues from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS).

“It’s believed that the victim – a man aged in his 20s – was beaten by a number of males, one of whom is believed to be have been armed with a metal bar.

“He was transported to hospital by NIAS, where he was treated for injuries, including bruising to his face and legs.

“We are working to establish a motive for this attack. I would appeal to anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 316 of 13/07/20.”
