Yesterday (Sunday) on social media, Police west Belfast appealed for the public to only use car parks available.
“We know how much everyone loves to enjoy the outdoors on a lovely, crisp, sunny day like today.

“Parking on such a narrow road not only causes a major obstruction to other road users but delays vital emergency services reaching the homes in this area which could have very serious consequences.
“The inconsiderate parking also restricts local residents accessing their own homes which understandably is very frustrating for them.
“Unfortunately today, Woodbourne Local Policing Team officers were called to attend Divis Road on several occasions as many motorists had either blocked other vehicles in, restricted residents access, driven into into local driveways/gardens to turn or parked within 15 metres of a junction.

“We would love everyone to be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery that we have on our doorstep, especially in these difficult times.
“But PLEASE be mindful and considerate of others and if the carparks are full, either come back at a later time or perhaps reconsider your choice of walking location.
“The National Trust, PSNI and council are working in collaboration to try to resolve this ongoing issue.
“We thank you for your assistance!”
