Obscene NI footpath graffiti attacking NHS Heroes 'disgusting and abhorrent' - PSNI now investigating

Obscene slogans about NHS workers daubed on a stretch of footpath recently have caused widespread anger and disgust throughout Northern Ireland.

The slogans, which have since been removed, appeared on a footpath in Lisburn on Wednesday.

Several images of the repugnant messages were shared on social media.

The majority of the slogans are too offensive to publish but some of them read: "NHS stink of hell...

"Nurses are filth...

"Dr [sic] are bloodsucking leeches."

The reaction to the images throughout Northern Ireland was one of outrage and revulsion.

"I hope who ever is responsible gets caught and made to apologise," said Lagan Valley MLA, Robbie Butler (DUP).

Alliance Party Lisburn and Castlereagh City Councillor, Sorcha Eastwood, described the graffiti as "disgusting and abhorrent".

"Totally and utterly condemn this disgusting and abhorrent graffiti that has appeared attacking our NHS heroes," said Colr. Eastwood.

"I can assure you this is not representative of anyone in the community."
