Old munitions found at cemetery

Old munitions were found at a Belfast cemetery today after a security alert.

Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in West Belfast.

The incident, at the City Cemetery on the Falls Road comes after the discovery of a suspicious item inside the cemetery grounds.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "A section of the cemetery has been cordoned off whilst the item is examined and anyone intending to visit the cemetery today should plan for possible disruption."PACEMAKER BELFAST 09/06/2020

Police and ATO attended the scene at Belfast City Cemetery on the Falls Road in the west of the city after a suspicious object was found.

The object was examined at the scene and was described as old munitions which are in a non-viable state.

Further examinations of items recovered will be carried out in due course.

Police cordons at the cemetery were removed.
