Pair bailed following discovery of Tyrone cannabis factory

A man and a woman were arrested in connection with the discovery of a cannabis factory at residential premises in Dungannon.

Police said the pair were detained during the search in the Beech Grove area of the town last Tuesday.

Inspector Stickland said: “Shortly before 7:15pm, officers attended a house in the area and carried out a proactive search of the property. Police uncovered suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of £15,000 as well as other items and drug paraphernalia during the operation.

“One man aged 30 years old was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in production of Class B Controlled Drug, Possession of a Class B Controlled Drug and Possession of a Class B Controlled Drug with intent to supply.

"He was released on police bail pending further enquiries. The male was also arrested for another incident on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking in which vehicle is driven dangerously, driving without due care and attention, two counts of failing to remain where accident occurred causing damage, failing to stop where accident occurred causing damage, no driving licence, no vehicle test certificate and using a motor vehicle without insurance. He was released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service for these offences.

“A 32 year old female was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in production of Class B Controlled Drug, permitting premises to be used for the production of a Controlled drug of Class B and Possession of a Class B Controlled Drug. She was released on police bail pending further enquiries."

The inspector said police are "fully committed" to tackling the scourge of drugs in our communities, and they will continue to proactively investigate and carry out searches linked to the drugs trade.

“We are determined to disrupt their activity and anyone involved in the drugs trade, or anyone tempted to become involved should be under no illusion - we will seek to identify them, arrest them and place them before the courts," he said.
