PSNI seize £100,000 of cocaine and arrest two, while third man arrested in UDA drugs probe

Detectives from PSNI Organised Crime Unit, working with colleagues in Border Force, have seized suspected cocaine with an estimated value of over £100,000 in Greater Belfast this morning, Thursday October 15.

Two men aged 20 and 46 were arrested during a follow up search at a property in Newtownards and a quantity of cannabis was also seized.

Detective Inspector Pete Mullan said: “This operation was part of our ongoing efforts to tackle illegal drugs and the organised Criminals involved in the drugs trade in Northern Ireland.

“’Class A drugs cause nothing but misery and pain within our communities and this is why removing these dangerous substances from our streets is a key priority for the Police Service of Northern Ireland and our partner agencies.

The 20-year-old man has since been released on bail pending further enquiries and the 46 year old man remains in police custody.

Also today, Detectives from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force charged a 40-year-old male with a number of drug offences, including possession of a class A controlled drug, being concerned in the possession of a class A controlled drug, possession of a class B Controlled drug and possession of criminal property.

He is due to appear at Laganside Magistrates Court on the 11th November 2020

The charges relate to a search by Paramilitary Crime Task Force (PCTF) detectives investigating criminality linked to West Belfast UDA in the Shankill area of Belfast earlier.
