Residents return to homes after suspicious object in NI town found to be ‘remnant from First World War’
Families have able to return to their homes after the examination of a suspicious object in Cookstown.
The PSNI have confirmed that a security alert in the Beechway area of Cookstown has now ended.
Earlier they revealed that a suspicious object, discovered in the area this afternoon (Sunday 11 April), was examined by Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO).
And it has been declared as nothing untoward, before being removed for further examination.
Inspector Michael Patton said: “It is believed the object may be a remnant from the First World War.
“Residents have now returned to their homes, and I am keen to thank those who were inconvenienced for their patience and understanding.”
