Searches carried out in Belfast after claims made to PSNI that ‘suspicious objects’ left - public asked to report anything suspicious

Police are investigating reports made today (Monday 29th June) that suspicious objects had been left in north Belfast and in Belfast city centre.

PSNI have conducted a number of searches - but nothing was found.

Inspector Paul Noble said: “Police received reports at 12:40pm this afternoon that a device had been left on the Antrim Road in north Belfast and a second device had been left in the Brougham Street area of Belfast city centre.

“Searches have been carried out and nothing untoward has been found.

“I want to take this opportunity to appeal to the local community and people travelling through these areas, if anyone comes across aanything suspiciousus, they should contact police immediately.

“Anyone with information about this incident, or who saw any suspicious activity in area in recent days, is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 715 of 29/06/20.”
