SnapChat cat video: PSNI hunt young Mid-Ulster man seen in ‘disturbing’ cat clip

The PSNI has appealed for help in identifying a young male from the Mid-Ulster area who featured in a SnapChat video showing a cat being abused.

PSNI Mid Ulster said the young man in the video is from the Mid-Ulster area and encouraged anyone who knows him to contact them immediately.

“We are aware of a SnapChat video circulating at the moment involving a young male from our district and the mistreatment of a cat,” explained the PSNI.

“We have been given some information which will be passed on to our colleagues in Mid Ulster Council Animal Welfare Department.

“If you know the person involved, drop us a private message to our Mid Ulster Facebook page and be prepared to provide a statement outlining how you know the person involved.

“Do not post the persons name or any details about them online,” urged police.

The police warned parents if they recognise any of their children in the video to contact them.

“We and our partner agencies take animal welfare and animal mistreatment very seriously.

“If you recognise yourself in the video, or mum and dad recognise you - come and speak to us, before we come and speak to you.

“The incident reference number for the incident is 1230 07.08.2020.”

One man who saw the video described it as “disturbing” and “sick”.

“Why anyone would do this is beyond me,” said the man on social media.

“It’s disturbing and sick - there’s just something about someone being cruel to animals that upsets me.”
