Threats to staff during armed robbery branded ‘reprehensible’

Two men, one with a knife, stole money and jewellery after they raided a store in Church Lane on Saturday afternoon shortly after 2pm..
The pair, who threatened staff, were wearing face masks according to the PSNI.

Hide AdA PSNI spokesperson said: “One of the males was armed with a knife which he used to threaten two members of staff. The robbers demanded money and jewellery.
“The pair then made off with both cash and jewellery in the direction of Obin Street,” said the PSNI spokesperson.
“Both males are described as wearing navy blue tops and one male was wearing a grey flat cap.”
Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Duffy said his thoughts are with the victims who he said must have had a ‘very traumatic experience’.
He urged anyone with information to contact the PSNI.

Hide AdUpper Bann MLA Jonathan Buckley said: “The violent nature of this cowardly incident is utterly reprehensible. It is particularly shocking to see an incident of this nature exhibited in broad daylight within our town centre.
“My thoughts are with the staff that had to endure this traumatic incident.
“This is a well-renowned, local family business, and this incident will only add to the challenges faced by shops on the High Street this year,” said Mr Buckley.
