Two officers taken to hospital after flatbed rams police before stingers take it out

Two police officers have been hurt in a ramming incident.

It happened after the driver of a flatbed was signalled to stop by officers from Armagh.

The PSNI wrote on Facebook that the driver “decided it would be a better idea to reverse ram our patrol vehicle, and a pursuit ensued”.

Other policing teams and traffic officers worked together to rein in the vehicle, whose driver then “attempted to ram police a further two times, but was unsuccessful”.

PSNI Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon added: “The vehicle was stung three times by officers before eventually calling it a day.

"The driver was arrested for driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, assault on police, and possession of an offensive weapon and a range of other motoring offences.

"Two of our officers required hospital treatment.

"Both of them will be off for a number of weeks as a result.

"We are committed to making our roads safer by removing those who engage in reckless behaviour such as this.”
