Woman knocked to ground and kicked in vicious robbery on Lagan Towpath - PSNI appeal for information

Police in Lisburn are appealing for information following a report of robbery at the Hilden area of the Lagan Towpath yesterday afternoon (Monday 20th April).

The incident involving a female walker happaned around 4.30pm yesterday.

Sergeant James McKelvey said: “It was reported that a woman in her 30s was walking along the towpath when she was attacked by two males on bicycles.

“The males knocked the woman to the ground and kicked her in the back.

“The males, aged in their teens and wearing tracksuits took her handbag and a watch from her during the incident.

“The males made off towards the direction of Hilden and left the woman badly shaken.

“The handbag was recovered in a car park in the area a short time later.

“Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and saw anything suspicious to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1702 20/04/20. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
