Dairy cows sold to £1240 at Markethill on Tuesday 23rd August for a calved second calver from a Poyntzpass farmer.

An entry of in calf Shorthorn bred cows from a Newry farmer sold to £900 each with several more from £710 to £840.

A Tynan farmer received £920 for an in-calf second calver. An entry of maiden heifers sold to £390 to £500 each.

Cow ring: The 190 cull cows sold in a steady demand.  Beed-bred cows to £159 per 100k for 678kg at £1080.  Main demand from £127 per 100k to £150 per 100k.

Fleshed Friesian cows sold from £105 per 100k to £128 per 100k and up to £950 for 814kg (117). Second quality Friesians from £80 per 100k to £95 per 100k and the poorest types from £50 per 100k to £75 per 100k. Clean cattle sold to £191 per 100k for 622kg at £1185.
