Dairy stock sells to £1200 at Markethill

Dairy stock sold to £1200 at Markethill on Tuesday, 4th October paid for a calved heifer from a Kilkeel farmer.

The same seller received £1050 for a calved heifer.

CULL COWS

The 140 cull cows sold in a steady trade with beef-bred cows from £120 to £145 for 690k at £1000. Top price £1130 for 806k (140). Fleshed Friesian cows from £90 to £104 for 644k at £670. Top price £835 for 835k. Second quality friesians from £75 to £85 per 100 kilos and the poorest lots from £50 to £70 per 100 kilos.

The 140 lots in the calf ring sold in a steady demand. Bulls (under 5 week old) sold to £345 for a Lim with several more from £230 to £340 each. Heifer calves to £405 for a 4 week old Lim. Others sold from £190 to £260 each.
