A man suspected of murdering a west Belfast woman last August will be extradited from the Republic of Ireland, prosecutors have said.

Jennifer Dornan, a 30-year-old mother of three, was stabbed before her Lagmore estate home was set on fire.

On Wednesday, the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) confirmed its intention to prosecute a 37-year-old man for the offences of murder and arson.

The suspect was arrested by An Garda Siochana using a European Arrest Warrant earlier on Wednesday and appeared before a court in Dublin.

He was remanded in custody until February 22.

PPS assistant director Marianne O’Kane said: “Senior prosecutors, from both the PPS’s Serious Crime Unit and Appeals and International Section, have worked closely with the PSNI investigating team over recent months to expedite the prosecution decision in this case and commence extradition proceedings.”
