There were dramatic scenes on Wednesday morning when a two year-old child fell into the sea.

The incident occurred near Annalong Cornmill shortly before 12.00pm on Wednesday.

Newcastle Coastguard and Kilkeel Coastguard were both scrambled to the scene.

"A number of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council workers were close by and came to the rescue of the child," explained Kilkeel Coastguard.

"We thank them for their heroic actions today," said Kilkeel Coastguard.
