Elderly woman left '˜shocked' after burglary

Police are appealing for information after three men broke into the north Belfast of an elderly woman on Sunday evening.

Sometime between 6.30 and 6.50pm on Sunday 24th January the pensioner’s home in the Skegoniell Avenue area in north Belfast was broken into by three unknown males.

One of the males sat with the woman whilst the two other males searched the house.

A PSNI spokesman said the woman “was not physically injured as a result of the incident but was left shocked”.

He said at this stage it was not yet clear if any property has been stolen at this time.

Detective Sergeant Michael Hawthorne has appealed for anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime in Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
