Co Antrim alert over: Historic munitions not viable, say police
An alert sparked by old explosives found near the Co Antrim coast is over, with police saying they weren’t viable.
Homes in Larne were evacuated and part of a road running between its picturesque northern coast and the countryside was cordoned off, after a member of the public found historical munitions in the area.
Bomb disposal experts were sent in, and have declared that the items were not capable of exploding.
Said a PSNI spokesman: “Police can confirm the security alert has now ended.”
