PSNI searches for two missing men in River Lagan appeal for information on Belfast man Gary Bain
Police have named a second man that they wish to trace after several days of searches in the River Lagan at Dromore and in Belfast.
Searches began in Dromore on Tuesday afternoon while in Belfast they began early on Wednesday morning.

In both cases there were safety concerns reported for two men seen near the river in Dromore and Belfast.
Today police named the man they are looking for in Belfast as 37-year-old Gary Bain, whom they said was last seen in the area of Ormeau Bridge on Wednesday morning.
Officers are continuing ongoing searches and request the public’s assistance.
Chief Inspector Mark Conway said: "We understand the community’s concern and know that this is a very painful time for Gary’s family.
"We want to assure them that we are working hard to find Gary with the assistance of our colleagues from NI Fire and Rescue Service, Coastguard and voluntary partners from Community Rescue Service."
Police asked for anyone who saw Gary in the run up to Wednesday to contact them – and for drivers in the Ormeau Road area to review dashcam footage. Police can be contacted on tel 101 quoting reference 174 of 21/01/2026.
In Dromore, police said they are concerned for the welfare of missing man Archie Boal, 75, appealing for information on tel 101, reference number 798 20/01/26.
Sean McCarry, regional commander of the Community Rescue Service, told the News Letter today that both searches are still ongoing and that they always continue searches until missing persons are found.
