Employee is accused of £150k Centra theft

An employee of a Centra shop in Moira has been charged with stealing almost £150,000.

Giles McAllen appeared at Lisburn Magistrates Court yesterday. McAllen, from Derramore Park in Magherafelt, allegedly stole £149,480 from his employers on dates between April 1 and July 29 last year.

A prosecuting lawyer submitted the legal papers and statements.

Defence had no contrary submissions and before returning the case to Craigavon Crown Court, Deputy District Judge Laura Ievers said she was satisfied there is a “prima facie case”.

Judge Ievers ordered McAllen to appear at Craigavon Crown Court for his arraignment on April 25.

McAllen is barred from the shop he allegedly stole from, from contacting any of the staff there or at Centra in Musgrave and from “entering Tommy French bookmakers”.
