The cliff and coastal path is one of Mid and East Antrim Borough’s leading tourist attractions. Its suspension bridge, tunnels and pathways bring walkers up close and personal with the spectacular coastline.

In an update today, The Gobbins team stated: “To our friends and followers, we would like to thank you for your messages of support and for all the enquiries we have had over the past few weeks.

“At present, we are working extremely hard behind the scenes to adapt our wonderful experience in line with government and social distancing guidelines, to ensure the safety of visitors our tour guides and guest relations team.

“We hope to have a reopening date for you very soon and we will be publicising this on our website and social channels as soon as we are ready. We cannot wait to welcome you all back again soon!”

According to Mid and East Antrim Council, tens of thousands of people from around the world visited the coastal path in the eight month-period before lockdown with American and Canadian holidaymakers accounting for over a tenth of visitors during the summer months alone.

The local authority is also progressing plans for a £11 million project to extend The Gobbins to take in more geological features of the rugged coastline, delivering a more adventurous experience for visitors.
