Unmissable demonstrations at dairy spring showcase

Alongside a superb display of dairy cattle, visitors to Borderway UK Dairy Expo will have the opportunity to attend demonstrations from two industry leaders, Cogent Breeding Ltd and Alltech's Keenan.

For the sixth year running, Harrison and Hetherington’s Borderway UK Dairy Expo is all set to be staged at the Borderway Exhibition Centre, Carlisle, on Saturday 11th March 2017.

As in previous years, the demonstrations are highly anticipated and offer dairy farmers the chance to gain an insight into the services available to them to help maximise the efficiency of their enterprise, or simply improve the overall quality of their herd.

Demonstrations by Cogent will commence at 10am, 12noon and 2pm and will run for approximately one hour.

Demonstrations by Alltech Keenan will take place at 10.30am and 1.30pm.

This year, Michael Jones, precision technical support manager, from Cogent Breeding Ltd and Edward Bourke, Dairymaster’s international sales and MooMonitor+ development manager, will be giving an in depth presentation on MooMonitor+ collars.

These collars are the very latest in heat and health detection and monitor each individual cow on a daily basis, identifying specific types of behaviour such as feeding, rumination, resting time and activity intensity.

Through advanced data analysis, these features can aid in detecting heats, monitoring feeding and rumination patterns, monitoring welfare and managing the health status of the farm.

Other areas which will be covered by Michael and Edward include precision Repro and precision DIY, which offer farmers bespoke health, fertility and reproductive solutions.

In addition, Sion Parry, Cogent’s genetic and product project manager, will be covering the tools and packages Cogent have available to accelerate genetic gain within your herd.

Alltech Keenan can only be described as innovators in cattle nutrition and feeding technology.

Alltech Keenan’s UK sales manager, James Brough, commented: “Listening to famers’ requirements has always been an integral part of the business, and as a result, an exciting new range of machines have been designed specifically to enable farmers to take control of their feeding, labour and fuel costs.”

As part of their working demonstrations, Alltech Keenan will be presenting InTouch feeding management technology, their new vertical feeder which has been developed in partnership with Italian manufacturers Storti, and the latest developments in the Alltech Keenan mixer range.

Alltech Keenan’s InTouch feeding specialist, Chris Lord, will be explaining how Alltech Keenan InTouch technology can help farmers manage their feed costs by analysing the quality and performance of rations against output and income. In addition, Alltech Keenan northern regional sales manager, Michael French, will talk farmers through the benefits of the iconic Keenan Mech-Fibre mix.

Commenting ahead of the demonstrations at this year’s Dairy Expo, David Pritchard, event organiser and operations director for Harrison and Hetherington, said: “Visitors to Dairy Expo will have the opportunity to attend two demonstrations from market leaders within the dairy industry; Cogent and Alltech Keenan. Between them they will be covering everything from herd health and fertility to feeding technology and machinery.”
