Failed robbery at fast food restaurant

Two men attempted to rob a fast food restaurant in south Belfast on Thursday night '“ but fled empty-handed after they failed to get behind the counter.

The would-be robbers – one of whom was carrying a knife and was described as being around 30 years old, 5’9” tall with swarthy skin and was wearing a red checked shirt – approached the business at around 9.30pm.

The second robber was approximately 6’ tall, of slim build and was wearing a grey coloured tracksuit with the hood up.

They ran off towards the city centre.

Police said that no staff members were threatened or injured.

Detective Inspector Nigel Snoddy has appealed for anyone who noticed persons matching this description in the Ormeau Road area on Thursday evening to contact detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101 quoting reference 1622 09/06/16. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
