Families moved from homes in Carnlough after security alert

Families have been moved from their homes after the discovery of a suspicious object in Carnlough, Co Antrim.

A PSNI spokesman said on Twitter: “Drumalla Park/Bay Road, Carnlough is closed due to discovery of a suspicious object. Diversions in place at Drumourne Rd & Ballymena Rd.”

Sinn Fein MLA Oliver McMullan, who condemned the security alert, said: “The discovery of this suspect device on the outskirts of Carnlough has brought nothing but disruption to the local community.

“A number of people have been evacuated from their homes, causing considerable disruption and inconvenience.

“There is no room for these type of attacks in our society and they must end immediately.”
