Dungannon Park, which draws in over 200,000 visitors each year, boasts acres of open parkland surrounding an idyllic lake.

The redevelopment scheme at the flagship park was carried out over a two-year period, thanks to a cash injection by Mid Ulster District Council.

New facilities include the Café in the Park snack bar, offering visitors a selection of hot and cold drinks, lunches and ice cream treats.

Considerable refurbishment was also afforded to the five-star caravan and campsite facilities, which now boast the capacity to accommodate 24 touring units, an increase of 12 fully-serviced pitches, state of the art showers, ablution and laundry facilities.

The local authority said visitor feedback has been “very encouraging”, with campers giving Dungannon Park glowing reviews and recommendations.

Speaking as he officially opened the new facilities, the chairman of Mid Ulster District Council, Councillor Trevor Wilson, said:“The new facilities at Dungannon Park are a great addition to an already renowned flag-ship council facility.

“I am delighted the Council saw the opportunity to maximise the potential of this fabulous space and implemented the £700,000 refurbishment scheme which will hopefully build on the already impressive number of visitors to the park every year.”
