Good entry of sheep at Hilltown

At the New Year sheep sale in Hilltown there was a good entry of quality stock which met a blistering trade.

Highlight of the sale was a pen of fat ewes from a Warrenpoint farmer selling to £111 each. Plainer lots sold from £70 to £76 each.

Lamb trade remained steady with a Rathfriland farmer receiving £81 for 31kgs. Bryansford farmer £80 for 24kgs. Other lambs from £78 for 23kgs, £77 for 23kgs, £77 for 24kgs and £61 for 21kgs.

Store lambs met the best trade for sometime and reached £62 for 18kgs twice (3.44p per kilo). Also £55 for 16kgs.

Rams sold to £85 and others £70 per head and ranged from £64 to £70 (3.33p per kilo).
