Army bomb experts were called in to the Beechmount Crescent area while pupils from nearby St Paul’s Primary School were evacuated to the Mica Day Centre. St Paul’s Parish Centre was also opened for any residents.

The alert ran from roughly 12.30pm to 2.30pm. Alliance justice spokesman Trevor Lunn MLA said he was “appalled” at those who left the device next to the primary school.
