It is official: the UK is to quit the EU
The victory was formally confirmed just before 6am.
The BBC had forecast a Leave win at 4.40am.
The final figure was 16,911,138 (52%) votes for Leave and 15,776,916 votes for Remain (48%).
The momentous outcome is a major turning point in UK history.
In Northern Ireland, the vote was 56% Remain to 44% Leave.
