Killinchy Young Farmers' Club 85 km charity cycle

The event was in aid of MS Society NI which is a charity very close to home for the club.

Members surpassed themselves, not content with completing 85 km in little over 2.5 hours, they pushed on to reach 137km by the four hour mark, this equates to 85 miles or the equivalent of travelling from Killinchy to Londonderry.

The club would like to congratulate all who took part on the morning as it was a fantastic team effort for an incredibly worthy cause.

Killinchy YFC would also like to thank all their supporters and those who have sponsored them so far.

Any further donations are greatly appreciated and will be accepted until 31 January 2016.

Donations can be made to a member in person, online at www.justgiving.com/KillinchyYFC85kTriathlon or via text by typing “KYFC85” space and then the amount you wish to donate to 70070. Eg KYFC85 5 – to donate £5.

From the donations made so far, the club has raised a staggering £400 for MS Society NI.

A further £162 was also raised from the ballot at Killinchy YFC’s annual quiz held on Tuesday 12 January 2016.

A cheque will be presented to the charity at the club’s 85th anniversary dinner dance on 27 February 2016.

Meanwhile, Killinchy YFC held their annual quiz at Daft Eddy’s on Tuesday 12 January 2016.

A record number of 19 teams took part in the quiz which raised a total of £420 for club finds.

A good night was had by all.

First place, with a lead of 40 points, was awarded to the Silly Truckers – Harold Peden, Joyce Peden, Ashley Peden, David Hanna, Marian Hanna and Les Thompson.

Second place went to French Toast Mafia and third to Village Idiots, who came from Moneyrea YFC.

The Wooden Spoon Award was presented to Drumreagh Drunken Youth, comprising of Mark Hanna, Mark Thompson, Jonny Hayes and David McClenaghan.
