Man arrested after £100k drugs seized, Ballymena

A 40-year-old man has been arrested after drugs with a street value of around £100k were seized in Ballymena.

Detectives from Reactive and Organised Crime in Coleraine working with officers from the Ballymena Crime Team yesterday seized class A and class B drugs following the search of a house.

Suspected cocaine and mephedrone with an estimated value of around £100k was recovered.

The 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A controlled drugs, possession of class B controlled drugs, possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs, being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and cultivating cannabis.

He remains in custody assisting officers with their inquiries.

Detective Sergeant Wallace from Reactive and Organised Crime said: “We are very pleased to have taken a large quantity of illegal drugs off the streets of Ballymena. I would urge anyone with any information about the use or supply of illegal drugs to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with that information.”
