Man held after racist abuse of women

Two women have been subjected to racist abuse by a man in Belfast.

The incident happened in Kent Street as the women walked to their parked car. After they drove from the area they noticed damage to the passenger side of the car.

Police said a man was arrested in relation to the incident and was subsequently released pending further police inquiries.

The incident happened on Saturday evening but details have only now been released by police.

PSNI Constable Shane Burdin said it was being treated as a “racially motivated hate crime”.

He appealed for witnesses to come forward.
