Man robbed in violent east Belfast attack

Police said the male victim, aged in his 20s, was approached from behind, punched and kicked.

A police spokesperson said: “Police in east Belfast are appealing for information following a street robbery on Albertbridge Road shortly after midnight on Monday night, 24 April.

“It was reported that a man, aged in his 20’s, was walking out of City Centre around 12.10am when he became aware of a group of males behind him. Without warning he was struck from behind to the top of his back and was punched a number of times in the face by a male who is described as being aged in his early 20’s, bald and of muscular build. He had a tribal tattoo on his left arm running up to his neck and was wearing a black tracksuit top and bottoms with white stripes. This male was described as being the oldest in a group of three or four other males who also kicked and punched the man.

“The man made his way home before realising that his wallet and iphone had been stolen during the assault.”

The spokesperson added: “Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact officer at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference 40 of 25/4/17.
