Men accused of stealing thousands from ferry machines

David Gordon, 46, and Paul Gale, 36, appeared before the city’s Magistrates’ Court charged with three separate thefts from Stena Line.

The pair were arrested along with a co-accused after taking a ferry from Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Gordon, of Waggon Walk, West Heath in Birmingham, and Gale, from Shakespeare Road in Romford, Essex, are accused of stealing £659 in coins during that incident.

They also face other theft charges relating to £2,359 and £945 in coins allegedly taken from Stena Line in February this year and November 2015.

Both men are further accused of going equipped for theft by having a drum key.

Also appearing in the dock was 55-year-old Alan Reeves, whose address was given as East Lancashire Road in Booth.

Reeves faces a single charge of stealing coins to the value of £659 in connection with the latest incident.

His solicitor, Conor Heaney, said he was unable to seek bail at this stage.

All three men were remanded in custody to appear again in court at a later date.
