Moneyrea YFC get wind of renewable energy benefits at local wind turbine visit

The young adults were given a tour of the turbine on the farmland by Simple Power Chief Executive, Philip Rainey, who provided information on how wind is being utilised to power farm incomes and homes throughout Northern Ireland.

Mr Rainey also spoke to the attendees about Simple Power’s work with the farming community across the province, including its CSR partnership with local charity Rural Support.

Mr Rainey commented: “It was a privilege to host the Moneyrea Young Farmers in Drumbo and discuss how our single wind turbines are supporting the rural economy and local farmers by generating additional income whilst also helping reduce Northern Ireland’s carbon footprint. It was fantastic that they had the opportunity to hear first-hand from our farming partner Henry Dorman about the process of developing a single wind turbine and the benefits of harvesting wind on his farm.”

Joy Ballance, daughter of Henry and a Moneyrea Young Farmers’ Club member, outlined: “Having the tour of the turbine on my father’s farm was a great opportunity for the members to see renewable energy in action and learn how farmers can work with renewable energy companies such as Simple Power. The wind turbine made a big impression on everyone and really brought the learning behind renewable energy production to life.”

Simple Power enables farmers and their families to contribute to renewable energy generation while also turning their land into a sustainable and reliable source of income. The company fully finances each wind turbine project from the outset with landowners receiving a fixed annual income.
