Mother and young daughter escape injury in hammer attack

A woman and her young daughter have escaped injury after an aggravated burglary at an east Belfast property.

Around 8.30pm yesterday (Monday) men armed with hammers burst into the Fashoda Street home.

The gang smashed windows - one in the kitchen and another at the front of the house.

A PSNI spokesman said the mother and her daughter were unhurt after the incident.

Detective Constable Blair said: “I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1232 of 13/02/17.

"Alternatively, if you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
