A great gesture from a flute band towards Celtic fan
As a lifelong advocate of the positive benefits flute bands bring to communities, I was delighted to read of a Scottish flute band raising funds for a Catholic Celtic supporter to compete in the forthcoming Special Olympics, next year in Sheffield.
This is a great gesture from the band members and another step forward in extending the hand of friendship to those outside our tradition who should come to accept our cultural expressions for what they are.
I wish the band and the young man every success for the future – but will have to draw the line at extending that to Celtic!
