David Ford should not be '˜in good standing' as a Presbyterian

As one who some three years ago wrote to the Clerk of Templepatrick Presbytery after the first Assembly vote on same-sex marriage, I welcome their decision yet find it incredible that the judicial commission continues to find Mr Ford '˜in good standing' and therefore at liberty to do more damage in the wider church with his views!

With the first vote at Stormont, the Reverend Dr Norman Hamilton on behalf of Presbyterian Church Ireland wrote to all MLAs stating what the church believed on marriage.

Such was an excellent move.

With respect to the commission, his views and those of other liberals within the denomination are clearly heretical and not only at variance with the Westminster Confession of Faith but in direct conflict with the authority of Scripture.

Irish Presbyterians need to emulate the great reformer, Martin Luther who stated ‘my conscience is captive to the Word of God’ and those liberals within should do the proper thing and resign.

But let your communication be, ‘Yea yea; Nay nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil’ (Matthew 5 v 37) and ‘The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe’. (Proverbs 29 v 25)
