Dismay at a book of condolences being opened for SF man

It was with much disgust and dismay that as a councillor for Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council I learned that a book of condolence has been opened for Martin McGuinness.

This sensitive matter was not agreed by the council and it was a decision made at the discretion of the Sinn Fein lord mayor without any political agreement.

I have expressed my disgust with the chief executive as I in no way was consulted about this or agree with such a book opening up for a self confessed IRA commander.

There are many innocent victims in our council area who have suffered at the hands of McGuinness’s IRA and they have been really insulted and distressed that our council have opened these books.

Martin McGuinness is being lauded as a peacemaker whilst our veteran soldiers are being hauled through the courts and no sign of truth or genuine forgiveness from the SF/IRA leadership.

He was an unrepentant IRA man who choose the path of death and destruction and we must never forget who the real Martin McGuinness was.

My heart goes put to the victims who have to listen to him being portrayed by the great and the good in society as this great peacemaker.

The IRA he was a member of was a bunch of psychopaths who killed men women and children in their aim for a ‘united Ireland’.

The IRA was defeated by the SAS and British intelligence services so McGuinness and company knew their time was running out so he entered the political path to avoid jail and try and rewrite history with the republican narrative.

It is my understanding that innocent victims will not sit back and ignore this and may well take appropriate action to take a stand for what is right and proper for their loved ones who were murdered or maimed by McGuinness’s IRA.
