Help your country so that war sacrifices were not in vain

As my father was a survivor in the First World War, so it goes without saying that I was spellbound watching the televised three hour programme on Passchendaele on Sunday night.

After this ungodly war ended, the government of the day built houses that were declared ‘fit for heroes,’ I was born and reared in such a house, the rent was six shillings and eight pence per week.

I believe many such houses were built throughout Great Britain and Northern Ireland, they are still standing today, a credit to the workmanship of the era, along with an example of disinterest and incompetence by those who govern us today.

The loyalty the people had for their King/Queen then, including right up to the end of the Second World War, was rock solid and priceless.

When I see the state Britain is in today, I just cringe in despair.

So, I say to those who wish Great Britain and Northern Ireland to remain in the European Union, show some loyalty to your country, leave aside your personal greed, put your effort to making our country the envy of the world, so that the sacrifice the brave people of the First World War laid down their lives for, was not in vain.
