IRA ethnic cleansing was allowed to go on

The contribution by Mr Armstrong ('˜PIRA murders of civilians were deliberate more than accidental', June 5) was certainly informative and exposed the ethnic cleansing by the PIRA.

An interesting question is why this policy was allowed to continue for so long by successive governments.

The honourable exception was Roy later (Lord) Mason.

In light of the senior informants in the PIRA the only rational conclusion to be drawn is that the British used the PIRA killers to decimate the unionist population.

As such they along with the Provo leaders should be before the War Crimes Tribunal at The Hague.

Milosevic was no worse than duplicitous ministers and prime ministers.
